Ode to Joy

Ode to Joy is the music my daughter is playing in a concert very soon. The fact that it is Beethoven's ninth symphony was coincidental. I had to add her age to a die-cut star. To give the background music a vintage look I added lots of antique linen distress ink and then rubbed rock candy distress stickles over it before heating it to dry.
The tab was cut with an edger die and then finished with scissors. I then added the 'daughter' stamp. I thought if I went to buy a card it would have to include a happy birthday message, age and daughter as well as reflecting her personality.
I die-cut the mat stack 3 (PTI die and stamps) and embossed the stamped background with clear powder. I sewed the button using embroidery thread to adhere the die cut flowers in cream felt . This was very simple even for me (I don't get on with sewing very much). Gems were added either side of the sentiment and Hawaiian shores ribbon was used underneath. My daughters favourite colour is light blue and I love this aqua mist PTI cardstock.

I scored the card to make a w fold on the inside. This enabled me to add flowers to the inside of the card and they pop out as you open the card. We both love flowers.  I used a pin prick amount of Aleene's tacky glue to adhere the flowers and this made no mess. The inside stamps are Paula Pascual's - I love her stamps and have quite a few in my collection.
I am very proud of my daughter and hope she has a wonderful birthday. She started counting down the days last month and her best friend has even calculated which day her birthday is on next year (taking into account it will be a leap year) They are very excited! I know she will appreciate the time and effort making her card.
