I was making this card for the Papertrey Ink January blog hop challenge. I love the clear embossing on black cardstock (as recommended by Nichole) and wanted to add white embossing powder over the top. My first experiment did not go well but after watching the MIM I thought lets try again! My fourth attempt was successful. I then added Mr Huey's spray mist for a burst of colour. This originally was going to be in the shape of a butterfly over the YOU but the clear embossing in the background distorted the shape so I decided to artistically spray instead.
I hadn't realised the zipper die sentiment was suited to a horizontal card so I'm going to write 'again' on the inside of the card along with happy valentine's day. It was fun to play around with this card and although I made lots of mistakes I learnt lots too. This card is for my wonderful husband. I knew I wanted this sentiment set for him when I saw Dawn McVey first showcase it.
Supplies used from Papertrey Ink unless noted:
Stamps: Simply You, Turning a new leaf
Dies: Heart border, Zipper
Patterned Paper: Studio Calico Vol.3
Cardstock: kraft, vintage cream
Felt: vintage cream
Mister Huey's: Heirloom Blue
Ink: Versamark, fresh snow
are who I would choose if I had the choice again. |
Thank you for any comments- it's so lovely to receive them.
