Make It Monday #101: Layered Embossing

I was making this card for the Papertrey Ink January blog hop challenge. I love the clear embossing on black cardstock (as recommended by Nichole) and wanted to add white embossing powder over the top. My first experiment did not go well  but after watching the MIM I thought lets try again! My fourth attempt was successful. I then added Mr Huey's spray mist for a burst of colour. This originally was going to be in the shape of a butterfly over the YOU but the clear embossing in the background distorted the shape so I decided to artistically spray instead.
are who I would choose if I had the choice again.
I hadn't realised the zipper die sentiment was suited to a horizontal card so I'm going to write 'again' on the inside of the card along with happy valentine's day. It was fun to play around with this card and although I made lots of mistakes I learnt lots too. This card is for my wonderful husband. I knew I wanted this sentiment set for him when I saw Dawn McVey first showcase it.
Thank you for any comments- it's so lovely to receive them.

  1. Lovely results. Striking on the black background.

  2. I like the splash of blue on your card, along with the kraft base - really lets the black pop!

  3. Lovely card. I love the clear embossing on the black.
The splash of color gives it a little pop!

  4. This is so pretty. I tried this technique today, and just got a giant smudge! I'm encouraged by the beauty of your card. I'll try again. So sweet for your hubby.

  5. So glad you stuck with it!!! That clear embossing on black looks AMAZING!!! I'll have to remember that one.

  6. Loving how you used spray ink on this beauty!

    It's a good life!
