Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

This months inspiration is a unique color scheme that has been popping up everywhere this spring. A bright green (Simply Chartreuse or New Leaf) paired with bold black & white patterns. Think gingham, argyle, checks or stripes. Really mix things up and enjoy the creative process! When I saw this I thought of black and white footballs (if you are American you call it soccer) and a football pitch. So I made a zipper card for my son's football team coach. Although my husband has now told me I should make another 3 for all the coaches! All of the coaches are volunteers. Dad's whose children also play in the teams. Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

Starting from the above picture for inspiration I knew I needed to make a birthday card. I had some lovely roses on blue background paper so glued it to some cardboard packaging and then die cut my message using Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet Die Collection. I used text speak to play with the great/eight. My daughter was puzzled so I hope Lily realises the U is you, R is are and gr8 is great! I ended up peeling off the lower case r and changing it to an upper case R to make it clearer. This is my amended card photographed next to my lovely cake stand ( it is similar to one of the fabrics): I love roses and I also love afternoon tea. Scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam=yum! My Dad is coming this week to bake some with my children. Many thanks for your kind comments - I love reading them. I'm looking forward to seeing some beautiful blog hop entries.

Papertrey Ink March 2012 Blog Hop Challenge

For the month of March we wanted to focus on sunshine and the upcoming spring season. What better way to do so than with a fresh color scheme of aqua & yellow. Use the inspiration piece as a jumping point for your color scheme, pattern combinations, overall design or whatever else inspires your creativity. We look forward to seeing your creations on March 25th! I really enjoyed making a card for this challenge. This is my entry: I started with aqua mist cardstock and stamped the largest polka dots, from polka dot basics 2, in versamark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The hawaiian shores ribbon was tied into a bow and the ends left like the ones in the photo ( hard for a perfectionist!) I stamped the sunshine sentiment, from the half & half stamp set, in aqua mist ink onto white cardstock which was die cut from mat stack 5 and used foam squares to add the harvest gold cardstock frame to the ...
